Havana, November 28 (RHC) - The 7th British Culture Festival is underway in Havana with a strong Scottish accent. The event will run until December 8 with a wide gamut of activities, whose main purpose is to continue strengthening cultural ties between the Caribbean island and UK. The program includes film screenings, concerts, artistic exchanges, dance, literature and theater.

The rhythm of the bagpipe, the accordion and the ceilidh (traditional Scottish dance) are some of the highlights of the event which will also celebrate St. Andrew's Day, Scotland’s National Day, on November 30. Precisely that day the Scottish delegation attending the gathering will exchange with children, young people and mentors of the Muraleando Community Project to learn about the work of that center and particularly about the Camara Chica project aimed at promoting audiovisual creation among children and young people, as well as its experience as part of the Habana-Glasgow exchange. In that sense, the British Council, a non-governmental British organization for cultural relations and educational opportunities, will be developing various events that are part of its training and exchange projects.

Among the most anticipated will be the participation of renowned British DJ Denis Sulta, who, in addition to delighting electronic music lovers with his work, will exchange with his Cuban counterparts and other musicians. This will be a way of reflecting on the rich sound of two very different island, united by a precious musical heritage widely recognized internationally.

Hector Barbour (his real name), considered one of the most relevant contemporary electronic artists in Europe, will share experiences with a representation of local DJs and electronic music producers linked to the National Electronic Music Laboratory (LNME ) and the Hermanos Saíz Association during a workshop organized at the Cuban Art Factory –FAC-, scheduled for November 29. That same day in room 4 of that important cultural space, Denis Sulta will go on stage around midnight.
