Havana, August 7 (RHC) -- One of the most relevant Cuban percussionists, Ruy López-Nussa, stars on Friday a Culture Ministry concert to support social isolation in the fight against Covid-19.
With the message # Quédateencasa (StayAtHome) and the support of the Cuban Music Institute (ICM), the initiative is aimed at promoting the government sponsored measures to face the pandemic that currently affects most of the countries in the world. The Ministry of Culture and the ICM have been making an effort to provide entertainment with quality local artistic creations, broadcast through virtual platforms, linked to radio and TV.
López-Nussa has been a professor at Havana’s Alejandro García Caturla and Amadeo Roldán Music Schools and performed at international jazz festivals in different countries. His book Ritmos de Cuba. Percusión y batería (Rhythms of Cuba. Percussion and battery), written mostly for educational purposes based on his own experiences, is considered by specialists as a masterpiece that delves into the roots of Cuban culture.
The current series of online shows is broadcast on the frequencies of Canal Clave, Radio Progreso, the YouTube channel of the Ministry of Culture and links to 100 Facebook pages added to the joint broadcasts of online concerts begun more than four months ago under the labels #EstamosContigo and # MusicosPorCuba.
