Havana, May 17 (RHC)-- Cuba’s International Music Fair Cubadisco 2020-2021 paid tribute over the weekend to Spanish singer-songwriter Luis Eduardo Aute (1943-2020), with the program Aute retrato, about the artistic life of the author of iconic tunes like La belleza and Al alba, as well as those of other Spanish musicians from Aute’s generation.
Considered one of the greatest exponents of the Spanish song movement, Aute was also an accomplished filmmaker, sculptor, painter and poet.
Spain is the guest country of honor at this year’s Cubadisco Awards. A show entitled ‘Gala de ida y vuelta,’ is dedicated to Spanish roots in Cuba’s culture. Several Spanish record companies are participating in the top event of the Cuban music industry, promoting artists on their catalogs, as well as their artistic projects and services.
The Organizing Committee of Cubadisco announced their decision to grant an honorary prize to Spanish singer Raphael, on his 60 years of artistic life.
Other highlights of this year’s edition of Cubadisco Awards include the screening of the audiovisual material ‘Paco de Lucía. La búsqueda,’ directed by Francisco Sánchez, which compiles the testimony of relevant Spanish artistic figures like Ana Belén, Joaquín Sabina and Joan Manuel Serrat on Paco de Lucía’s contribution to flamenco music.
