César López & Habana Ensemble
Havana, May 28 (RHC)-- A new audiovisual material released Thursday highlights the significant contribution of Cuban musicians, exponents of different genres –mainly dance music, Latin jazz and trova-- to strengthened cultural links between France and Latin America.
The audiovisual entitled ‘Frances dances to Cuban Rhythm,’ was presented on social networks on occasion of the Week of Latin American and Caribbean Culture in the European nation, a collaboration of the Arts Center Enghien les Bains in France, the Cuban Music Institute and the country’s Ministry of Culture.
It compiles the experiences and testimony of the Cuban artists involved, among them César López and his group Habana Ensemble, tres player Pancho Amat, pianist and composer José María Vitier, singer Eduardo (Tiburón) Morales, dummer Samuel Formell, leader of iconic Formell y Los Van Van band, jazz pianist Alejandro Falcón, trumpet player Yasek Manzano, singer-songwriter Tony Ávila, dancer Santiago Alfonso and singers Luna Manzanares, Ivette Cepeda and Bárbara Llanes.
Acclaimed by French audiences, all the participating Cuban artists described their experiences performing in the European nation as unforgettable and a dream come true. They thanked the Enghien les Bains Arts Center in Paris and its director Dominique Roland for this documentary film and the invitation to perform at festivals in France.
