‘Sacha’, one of 26,000 boys and girls treated in Cuba after the 1986 nuclear accident at Chernobyl
Havana, June 16 (RHC)-- As of June 20th, the Chicago-based platform HotHouse will present the documentary film "Sacha, un niño de Chernobyl" (Sacha, A Child of Chernobyl), directed by Cuban film-makers Roberto Chile and Maribel Acosta Damas.
The 39-minute documentary, with English subtitles, narrates the story of Olexandr Savchenko, ‘Sacha’, one of the 26,000 boys and girls from Russia, Belarus, and the Ukraine who were treated in Cuba over a 21-year period after the 1986 nuclear accident at Chernobyl.
Produced by the Argentine news agency Resumen Latinoamericano, the documentary film presents the testimony of Sacha, his mother, and those of Cuban doctors, nurses, translators and other Cuban personnel involved in the humanitarian program, as well as footage of the disaster site in Ukraine.
The audiovisual also includes remarks by Cuban Ambassador to the United States, Lianys Torres Rivera.
