Curatorial Project

Havana, September 9 (RHC)-- The National Fine Arts Council exhibits on its official website and social media platforms, a curatorial project entitled ‘El que tenga oidos… que vea’ by critic Maikel Rodríguez Calviño.

The virtual exhibition includes iconic pieces by prestigious Cuban artists, whose works address the complex health, economic and social situation in Cuba and around the world.

The exhibition includes various techniques, painting, installation, drawing, sculpture and collage by established and young artists alike, among them Octavio Irving Hernández, Arístides Hernández ‘Ares’, Liudmila & Nelson, Wilfredo Prieto, Adriana Arronte, Arturo Montoto, Agustín Bejarano, Aymeé García, Eduardo Ponjuán, Lázaro Saavedra, Alexis Leyva ‘Kcho’.

Art critic Maikel Rodríguez said his Project is based on the idea that one of the main functions of art is to warn people about problems, dissatisfactions and conflicts, which are not always addressed properly. He emphasized that artists act as mediators between that reality and those who can change or modify it.

Rodríguez further stressed that art criticism should be understood not as an attack weapon, but rather a work tool toward perfection and growth.
