The so called “Diva of the Buena Vista Social Club Project”, Cuban singer, Omara Portuondo, has just released a new album titled That Old Black Magic, bewitching audiences all over the world.

Titled Magia Negra or That Old Black Magic, the new phonogram is a new version of her first record published in 1958 when she was only 25 year old and a member of Las D´Aida Quartet. On this occasion, Portuondo, who is also known as “The Bride of Feeling”, is accompanied by young Cuban musicians, such as pianist Roly Luna, bassist Gastón Joya, battery player Rodney Barreto and percussionist Andrés Coayo, conducted by Juan Ceruto.

Once again Omara, as she is called by her people and fans, shows her versatility when dealing with different Cuban music genre, including “bolero” and “son”, plus jazz and two very well-known pieces by Duke Ellington that Omara Portuondo immortalized: That Old Black Magic (Magia Negra) and The Caravan (La Caravana). The CD with which she has toured Europe with young Cuban musician, Roberto Fonseca, and her band is a wonderful new- year present for her fans and audiences worldwide.
