Havana, (RHC) – The Cuban Soccer Association (AFC) is one step away from re-admitting in the national team players hired in foreign leagues, as did volleyball, baseball and handball.

The call to the Cuba team of soccer players who are currently playing in foreign leagues “could be finalized on the next FIFA matchweek (March 26) or for the qualifying round for the next Gold Cup” against Guatemala (June), said in a statement to Radio Habana Cuba the National Commissioner Oliet Rodríguez.

The measure has the approval of the Cuban Sports Institute (INDER) and the players of the national team, in addition to being a clamor of the fans, given the poor results of Cuban soccer in recent times.

"We have good experiences in volleyball and baseball. Now in athletics we approved two athletes at the request of the Federation of that sport itself," INDER Vice President Ariel Sainz told Radio Habana Cuba during the AFC Congress, held on Wednesday in Havana.

Also head of the Volleyball Federation and a ``key player´´ in the return of the star Robertlandy Simón to the Cuba team, Sainz said that “there is no organic impediment” for the reintegration of players enrolled in foreign leagues and suggested “evaluate their contracts” and “see if They fit our needs. ”

"The technicians (of Cuban soccer) must make an assessment of the players and then make the appropriate calls according to the sport's own need," he added.
