Lefont will seek new record in ball dominance

Pinar del Río, November 6 (JIT)-- The Guinness World Record holder in ball control, Jhoen Lefont, will return to the swimming pool this Saturday to try a new world record.

The Dolphin, as some call the Cuban, will take advantage of a competitive modeling prior to the First Junior Pan American Games of Cali 2021 at the Baragua Swimming Pool Complex, east of this capital. 

Lefont will seek to set a new record by dominating the ball while swimming a distance of 50 meters backstroke. The current record, also in his possession, is one minute and 14 seconds.

"This is a short record that I had planned for the end of this month. I decided to bring it forward to coincide with the preparatory event for the Junior Pan American Games. I think it will be a good opportunity after all the time stopped because of the covid-19 pandemic," Lefont announced exclusively to JIT.

"I'm really looking forward to it, I want it to come out now so I can rest for the rest of the year and start next year, putting the finishing touches on other attempts for the months of January or February," he added in a telephone interview.

This modality is not approved by the Guinness Book of Records, in which El Delfín has several records. However, it is a milestone that only he has achieved and he will try to surpass now.

"I am not in my optimum form after the logical limitations of this pandemic period, but I feel with desire and strength to do it. There is always a respect in what I do and I will put all my effort to achieve it," he concluded.
