Havana, December 5 (RHC)-- Norwegian Magnus Carlsen will seek his second victory today against Russian Ian Nepomniachtchi in the eighth game for the world chess title.

Carlsen achieved on Friday the first victory against the challenger by beating him in 136 sets and seven hours and 45 minutes of play, to take advantage.

However, the Russian preferred to draw in the seventh game on Saturday, despite having some initiative with the white pieces, in 41 moves of a Spanish Opening, and now the confrontation favors the Nordic by 4-3.

The challenger faced the Saturday commitment with fortitude and after only two and a half hours of play split the point.

For the fourth time in this macth, the Russian appealed to the Ruy Lopez and made a novelty in move 11, but it did not surprise Carlsen, who invested time to refresh his memory on that position and then made a few very precise moves to balance the game.

Carlsen will lead this Sunday the white figures in a match agreed to 14 games and the champion will be the first to reach 7.5 units.
