Havana, December 29 (RHC)-- U-Banca Transilvania Cluj Napoca, where Cuban Karel Guzman plays, won a close 72×68 victory over Dinamo Bucuresti on Monday in the first leg of the Romanian Basketball Cup.
The left-handed player from Havana, who wears the number zero on his back, contributed 10 points, three rebounds and a couple of assists, to reach a rating of 13, in a game where the Bosnian-Herzegovinian Andrija Stipanovic (14 units) and the American Patrick Neal Richard with seven rebounds and four assists were the most outstanding players.
Guzmán, a member of the Cuban national team, was able to convert three baskets out of four possible from the field, one three-pointer in three attempts and four free throws out of seven in 24 minutes and 43 seconds on the court of the stadium where Napoca plays its home game.
U-Banca Transilvania, the undefeated leader of the Romanian League, decided the game against Dinamo in the final quarter, which it dominated 25-18 after trailing by three points, 57-60. The first half of the game ended with the scoreboard tied at 39.
Next Thursday 30, Napoca will host Bucuresti in the second leg of the Romanian Cup.
