Cuban boxers to take on other professional challenges in October

Havana, October 5 (JIT) - Cuban three-time world champion Lazaro Alvarez will try his third consecutive victory in professional boxing when he faces local Brandom Obledo this Friday in a bout scheduled for the Mexican city of Hermosillo.

The bout is scheduled for eight rounds, in the 135-pound division, with the owner of three Olympic bronze medals as opponent of a young man who won by knockout in his four previous bouts.

It will be the first of five such duels announced for October by the Cuban Boxing Federation, which on the 21st will depend on the double champion under the five rings Roniel Iglesias (147 pounds), also successful in a couple of outings.

His challenge will be to get past the experienced Venezuelan Juan "Niño" Ruiz, who has smiled in 27 of his 34 climbs to the ringside in those circuits, with 19 of those resolved by the fast track.

The scenario will be Tijuana, Mexico, which on the 28th will also host the debut of the universal king in 2017 Yosbany Veitía (118 pounds) and the returns of the third to that instance Osvel Caballero (130 pounds) and the Olympic gold medalist Arlen López (175 pounds).

With the opponents still to be defined, the event will be held in Aguascalientes, where Domadores de Cuba celebrated six times in the beginning of his professional career. He went on to add another seven wins without any slip-ups.
