As expected, the Cubans comfortably defeated the Salvadoran team and took second place in Group B, dominated by Mexico.
Margaro Pedroso's students improved their field efficiency to 47% and scored 66 points to 48 for the Salvadoran team.
The Antillean team also dominated under the boards with 47 rebounds to only 23 for the Central Americans, as they did in assists 21 to 13.
Individually, for the Cubans, Nahomis Vargas stood out with a double-double of 17 points and 12 rebounds. Melissa Despaigne exhibited the highest efficiency (+23) among all the players in the game.
This performance guarantees Cuba's ticket to the 2023 Fiba AmeriCup, a qualifier for the 2023 Pan American Games in Santiago.
This Saturday, the young Cuban team will play one of the semifinals against Puerto Rico, first in Group A, looking to reach the final and secure a place in the medal standings.
