Havana, December16 (RHC)-- The 2025 Club World Cup will have 32 teams, said today the president of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), Gianni Infantino.

The executive confirmed that the 2022 Club World Cup, which used to be held in December but was delayed this year due to the World Cup in Qatar, will be hosted by Morocco between February 1 and 11, 2023.

The decision was taken by the FIFA Council at its meeting this Friday, in which Casablanca was ratified as the host city, and Morocco will contribute two teams along with the champions of each of the six Confederations Cups.

European champions Real Madrid, South American champions Flamengo and Seattle Sounders, which won the North, Central American and Caribbean Confederation (Concacaf), will be among the seven teams in the next tournament.

A month-long tournament is planned for 2025, which in Infantino's opinion makes it 'a real World Cup'.

According to Infantino, the tournament could be held in June and could be held in the United States as a test for the 2026 World Cup, to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
