Caracas, January 30 (RHC)-- The Jorge Luis García Carneiro Stadium will be one of the sub-hosts of the Gran Caracas Caribbean Series 2023, whose organizers are putting the final touches for its inauguration on Thursday.
Formerly known as Forum de La Guaira, it will be in charge of hosting the first match of the Caribbean classic between Cuba and Curacao at 10:00, local time.
Its official debut in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) came in 2020, in a match between the Tiburones de La Guaira and Tigres de Aragua, and last year it hosted the Pan American Women's Championship.
The main attraction of the venue is that it is located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea, and its proximity to the beach makes it similar to Oracle Park, located next to the San Francisco Bay and home of the U.S. Major League Baseball Giants.
Among its measurements, it has a distance from home plate to the end fields of 335 feet in right and left field, making it a paradise for home run hitters, and in center field it has an approximate distance of 395 feet.
The construction of the sports complex took seven years, and after being integrated as one of the official stadiums of the LVBP, it serves as the home field of the Tiburones de La Guaira, although this year it also temporarily hosted the Bravos de Margarita.
In the Gran Caracas Caribbean Series, the coastal venue will host 12 of the 32 games, including one of the semifinals on February 9.
