Havana, March 4 (RHC)-- The Santiagueras Mambisas maintained their perfect pace in the women's Superior Basketball League (LSB) on Friday with a 102-43 victory over the team from Pinar del Rio.
At the Alejandro Urgellés multipurpose hall in Santiago de Cuba, the current champions of the tournament added their fifth victory in a game in which they outplayed their rivals from start to finish.
The locals went to the break with a wide difference of 59-17, a true reflection of the superiority against opponents who could do little to stop the offense of the reigning champions.
With this result, the Pinar del Río women are still without a win in the competition and have suffered their fifth consecutive defeat, so they must react as soon as possible to get into the fight.
In the same venue of group A, Camagüey (2-3) surprised Sancti Spíritus (3-2) with a score of 62-54, in a duel in which the third period was decisive, dominated 16-9 by the Agramontinas.
In key B, hosted by Ciego de Avila, the home team (3-2) lost 61-72 to Guantanamo (4-1), runner-up in the last edition.
In that game, the Guaso girls also had an important moment in the third quarter when they came out on top 22-13, which gave them an insurmountable advantage for the Avileñas.
Also this Friday, Capitalinas (3-2) overcame Villa Clara (0-5) with a final score of 81-35, which has not yet won its first game.
Today will conclude the matches in the same venues to complete the first six games of the competition.
After the qualifying phase, which should end on March 22, the four best teams will advance to the semifinals, where they will play a three-game play-off with two games to be won, the same as in the title race.
