Laina Perez: 25 m pistol champion in San Salvador
Havana, July 1 (ACN) -- Cuban Laina Perez won the gold medal this Friday in the individual 25-meter (m) pistol event, corresponding to the sport shooting of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games (JCC) in San Salvador.
Perez accumulated 27 points in the 10 series of shots, to be only one point ahead of her closest rival, Alejandra Zavala (26), from Mexico, who won the silver medal.
The bronze medal went to another Cuban pistol player, Sheyla González, who added 23 units, according to the official website of the JCC.
This is the third title for the largest of the Antilles in the regional event.
Also this Friday, Perez, Gonzalez and Claudia Hernandez totaled 838 little rays to finish second on the podium in the 25m pistol team modality, only behind the Mexicans (850), winners of the title.
The Guatemalans, competing under the flag of Centro Caribe Sport, won the bronze with 836 points.
In the case of the three Cubans, they accumulated 276, 276 and 286 points in heats one, two and three, respectively.
In addition, the Island's shooters won a bronze medal in the women's 10 m air rifle team competition.
Dianelys Pérez, Lisbet Hernández and Adianez Martínez achieved 1,843.2 units in the final of this specialty, to obtain the second collective prize in this Central Caribbean competition.
So far, Cuban sport shooting has contributed three crowns, four silver medals and an equal number of bronze medals to the delegation's harvest in San Salvador 2023.
