Elisbet Gámez is the only Cuban on the list of the 60 best swimmers in the Mare Nostrum.
Havana, July 25 (RHC) - The best Cuban swimmer today, Elisbet Gámez, finished 28th in the 200 freestyle at the World Aquatic Sports Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
With a time of 1.59.98 minutes, the native of Baracoa, in the far east of Cuba, placed 28th among 64 swimmers in her favorite event.
Although she could not come close to her personal best of 1.58.55, her record is the best of her career in world championships and her performance is, so far, the best of Cuban swimming in Fukuoka.
Meanwhile, in the men's 800, Rodolfo Falcón Jr. was 36th, with his best time of the year 8.20.35, while Julio Calero finished 41st in the 50 breast with 28.97 seconds.
