Fukuoka, July 31 (PL) - China conquered the throne by countries in the World Swimming and Aquatic Sports Championships, which took place in Fukuoka, Japan.

The Asian giant's delegation accumulated 20 gold medals in total, in addition to eight silver and 12 bronze medals.

Behind the Chinese came Australia (15-9-6) and the United States (7-22-15), the great disappointment of the event, after losing several swimming competitions in which they had athletes who were widely favored for the title.

Japan (4-1-5), France (4-0-4), Germany (4-0-3) and Spain (3-2-4) completed the group of nations that won at least three gold medals.

A total of 18 countries climbed at least once to the top of the awards podium, while 30 won at least one medal.

For Latin America, Mexico was the best representative, winning five silver medals and two bronze medals.

Colombia (0-1-0) and Brazil (0-0-1) were the other nations from that region that scored at these World Aquatics Championships.
