Havana, August 29 (RHC) - The Cuban women's volleyball team will face the Dominican Republic on Tuesday in the opening match of the Norceca in Quebec, Canada, which counts towards the world ranking.
The Cuban team, which has just won bronze in the Final Six played in the Dominican Republic, will have only 11 players in the match, as it will suffer the absence of Ailama Cesé due to injury.
The team led by new coach Leivys Garcia and the best player of the 20th century, Regla Torres, showed some improvement in the Final Six, beating Mexico 3 sets to 1 in the bronze match.
In the gold medal match, the United States team surprised the Dominican Republic and won the title.
The Dominicans will now strengthen their team for the Norceca with star players Brenda Castillo and Brayelin Martinez.
After their opener on Tuesday against the Dominicans, the Cubans will face the United States on Wednesday and Costa Rica on Thursday.
