Havana, December 11 (RHC) - Perugia retained its title in the volleyball Club World Cup after defeating Itambé Minas, from Brazil, 3-0 in the final match of the tournament played in India.
With Poland's Kamil Semeniuk as the star player, Perugia overcame the Cuban Michael "El Ruso" Sanchez's Minas, who scored 27 points in the semifinal victory over Japan's Suntory and 10 in the final against Perugia.
Semeniuk had a remarkable attacking efficiency of 14-12 and was selected the MVP of the match.
Although Cuban opposite Jesus Herrera did not have a great match - he only scored 5 points - he lifted his second trophy in the volleyball club world championship.
Wilfredo Leon, also a Polish Cuban nationalized, captain of Perugia, did not play due to injury.
For third place, Japan's Suntory again beat Turkey's Halkbank 3-2, with 30 points from Russian giant Dmitri Muserskiy and 14 from Cuba's Alain de Armas.
Perugia was also crowned last year.
