Cuban judokas to take bases in France and Hungary with their sights set on Paris 2024

Havana, January 24 (ACN) - Cuban judo fighters committed to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games traveled to France and Hungary, where they will be training in preparation for the Games.

Both teams are led by the stellar Idalys Ortiz and Andy Granda, in +78 and 100 kg.

Rafael Manso, president of the Cuban Judo Federation, confirmed to the Cuban News Agency (ACN) that the women left for the French capital and the men for the Hungarian capital, both in the qualification zone for the world ranking that guarantees places in the Olympic ranking (RO) for the Parisian multisport event.

Manso recalled that during the stay in Paris and Budapest the disciples of Yordanis Arencibia and Julio Alderete, head coaches of the women's and men's national teams, in that order, will be able to compete in several Grand Slam (GS) and Grand Prix (GP), the first of them in Paris, from February 3 to 4).

He also informed that they plan to attend the GS of Tashkent (March 1-3), the GP of Austria (March 8-10), the GS of Georgia (March 22-24) and the GP of Turkey (March 29-31).

Also outstanding among those chosen are Ivan Silva (90 kg), Magdiel Estrada (73 kg), Maylin del Toro (63 kg) and Idelannis Gomez (70 kg).
