Havana, April 17 (ACN)-- Cuban rowing will continue its quest for quotas for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, a multi-sport event scheduled for July 26 to August 11.
Angel Luis Garcia, president and commissioner of the National Federation, told the Cuban News Agency (ACN) that it has already approved a critical route, which highlights the qualifier in Lucerne, Switzerland, from May 16 to 21.
Garcia recalled that the participation in the Parisian event has already been assured for the single scullers Reidy Cardona (1xH) and Yariulvis Cobas (1xF), who continue in the preparation, as well as, but pending places, Roberto Carlos "Paz and Leduar Suarez, in the double sculls (2xH), in all cases in the open category.
He added to ACN that Cardona and Yariulvis won tickets to the Pre-Olympic Tournament of the Americas, to be held at the Rodrigo Freitas Lake in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
These four paddlers will do what they have planned together with coaches Juan Manuel Paula and Vladimir Reyes, doctor Rita María Martínez and physiotherapist Omar Díaz Gil.
Before the Swiss qualifying tournament, all of them will be in a training base from April 21 to May 15 in Kazan, Russia, and then they will compete in the World Cup in Lucerne, Switzerland, from May 24 to 26, and in an international regatta from May 27 to June 3 in Moscow, Russia.
