Colombia advances to the final and will face Argentina

United States, Jul 11 (PL) The Colombian national team defeated Uruguay 1-0 in the semi-finals and will play the final of the Copa America against Argentina on 14 July.

The intensity was high at the Bank Of America Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina, during the first half of the match between Uruguay and Colombia, with the Cafeteros coming closer to Sergio Rochet's goal.

Once again, James Rodriguez was in control of the match and he swung in a corner to the far post that Jefferson Lerma turned into a goal in the 39th minute to put the Colombians in control.

Near the end of the first half, in the 45th minute, an aggression by Daniel Muñoz on Manuel Ugarte left Néstor Lorenzo's side a man down, forcing them to rethink their tactical system in order to preserve their lead in the match.

The second half turned into a real pitched battle in all sectors of the pitch with the Charrúa side going all out on the attack and Colombia stoically holding on.

Chances for both sides in a back-and-forth attacking action during the final third of the match raised the temperature in the Bank of America, but the scoreboard would not move any further and the 1-0 scoreline qualified Colombia for the final on 14 July, where they will face the reigning champions Argentina.
