Opening ceremony

Paris, Jul 24 (JIT) - The Cuban delegation to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games informed that boxer Julio César La Cruz will take the place of wrestler Mijaín López as bearer of the national flag during the opening ceremony of the Games, scheduled for next Friday.

The decision is aimed at avoiding Mijaín's transfer to and from the Bulgarian city of Teteven, where the Greco-Roman style team he leads is satisfactorily covering the closing of the preparation for the event where he will try the feat of being crowned for the fifth time at this level.

This is a step forged as a result of exchanges with the athlete himself and his technical staff, in order to continue supporting his efforts and commitment to the result to which we all aspire.

In this way, Julio, two-time Olympic champion, will accompany judoka Idalys Ortiz, as another outstanding exponent of the Cuban sports movement.
