Armand Duplantis sets new world record in Paris 2024

La Habana, Aug 5 (RHC) After jumping 6.25 meters, Sweden's Armand Duplantis set a new Olympic record in the pole vault and was crowned gold medalist at the Stade de France.

"I had it, I had it, I made it. It's a huge joy, an exceptional moment in my career; I don't know if it's because of the frustration that accompanied me convinced that now it was possible, and in Paris, finally, what a relief," were Duplantis' first words in the mixed zone of the sports facility.

Champion also in the Tokyo 2020 edition and double universal outdoor and indoor title holder, the European phenomenon touched the sky again at the age of 24 to secure an eternal place in the Olympus.

Six times he has beaten his own world record this legend who has been competing for more than five years with himself and who came to the French capital to look for the most secure gold medal among the thousands of participating athletes.

The silver medal went to American Sam Kendricks with a jump of 5.90 meters and the bronze to Greek Emmanuel Karalis with the same height.
