Cuban rowers
Havana, Sept 5 (JIT) - Two bronze medals were won today by Cuban rowers at the Vladivostok 2024 International Rowing Regatta, which takes place in Russia.
Loraidis Echevarría and Roberto Carlos Paz climbed the podium, as reported to JIT Ángel Luis García, president of the Cuban federation of this sport. “She rowed in the 500-meter single sculls, as did Roberto Carlos,” the also national commissioner expanded.
The Cubans also achieved three fourth places (4x mixed, 1xM, and ergometry relay), a sixth place (2x mixed) and a seventh (Loraidis again at the distance of 1000 meters, this time in Amur Bay, since although the contest is ergometry, some other regattas are called).
For Cuba, Leudar Suarez Sanjul and Ana Laura Gimenez Bueno are also competing, all supervised by the technical head of rowing on the island, Joan Manuel Paula.
The duels are carried out with the special Concept 2 RowErg, which imitate rowing in classic boats on the water.
The Vladivostok International Regatta is part of the Eastern Economic Forum 2024 Sports Games and includes a sports and cultural program.
Representatives from China, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Cuba, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Russia are attending, mostly Olympic Games participants, world and European championship medalists, as well as youth rowers.
The Vladivostok International Regatta is organized by the Ministry of Sport of the Russian Federation, the Federal Directorate of Sports Events, the Ministry of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic and the Russian Rowing Federation.
