Havana, Oct 10 (RHC) - Cuba's baseball5 team defeated Mexico's team 2-0 with scores of 7-1 and 4-0, and practically advanced to the final of the Baseball5 World Cup, to be held in Hong Kong.
Unbeatable throughout the tournament, the Cubans qualified directly to Saturday's dispute for the world title, which they have held since the Mexico-2022 edition.
In the first match of the super round, also on Thursday, the Cubans had to come from behind to beat Japan in a duel of undefeated players. After losing the first set, they won the next two 5-2 and 3-0.
They had previously beaten Lithuania, South Africa, Venezuela, Chinese Taipei and the hosts Hong Kong.
With these victories, the Cuban team is now 7-0 in the championship and 4 wins in the super round and practically assures its presence in the final, which will be played by the first two in the classification.
