Havana, Oct. 14 (JIT) - Cuba's Erick Hernandez is preparing to try another record of ball control on November 17, this time in the 10-kilometer distance and during Marabana 2024.

“The Marabana race is one of my favorite places because of the adrenaline that comes from being among so many good runners and the applause that cheers you on from the sidewalks,” the 58-year-old multi-record holder and Guinness World Record holder (May 6, 1966) told JIT.

If he achieves it, it will be his second record in the emblematic Havana Marathon, since in 2017 he homologated the record in the distance of 42 kilometers and 195 meters.

“The circuit I will run has as one of its obstacles the wind, but I am also preparing for that,” expressed Hernandez, who will go for his fourth record in 2024.

This season Hernandez has set three records. The last one was precisely this Saturday in the Copacabana Hotel in the capital, where he registered 13,985 touches in one hour with any part of his body.

On August 31, he broke his own world record for the longest time dominating a ball with only his feet from a sitting position, with 1.5 kg strapped to each ankle, keeping the ball in the air for 3 hours, 7 minutes and 28 seconds.

On April 6, he set a mark of 12 hours, 6 minutes and 10 seconds, touching the ball with only his feet uninterrupted from a standing position.

Erik shared in the Copacabana, on Saturday morning, the announcement of his new feat with Carlos Gattorno, director of the National Commission of Marabana-Maracuba Races and Walks.

El Dominador, as he is also known, first entered the Guinness Book of Records in 2005 for touching the ball with his head 319 times in one minute.
