Baseball Cuban Team
Havana, Oct 21 (RHC) - Cuba's Premier 12 baseball team will play its first game in Ulsan (South Korea) on Tuesday in the first game of the tour of Asia.
The team coached by Armando Johnson will face the LG Twins, the 2023 champion and third in the most recent season of the South Korean professional league in 2024.
According to the team's top management, Yusniel Padrón, a pitcher with experience in the U.S. minor leagues, will be the starting pitcher against the Twins.
In the lineup released to Roberto Ramírez, Cuban press envoy to Premier 12, also appear veterans Erisbel Arruebarruena (bullpen), with experience in the Major Leagues, and Alfredo Despaigne (designated hitter), one of the mainstays in the recent victories of the Softbank Falcons in the Japan League.
After two days of work in the city of Ulsan, the mentor Johnson said that the intention is that some key men, including Despaigne and Arruebarruena, add as many innings as possible in those games.
The clash with the LG Twins will be followed by Wednesday's game against the NC Dinos, the first team in 2020 and relegated to the ninth and second to last position in the 2024 campaign.
Although Cuba's participation will be partial, these two games and four others, still without defined opponents, have been agreed in the context of the Ulsan-KBO 2024 Autumn League, with actions from October 15 to 29.
