Cuban athlete Denia Caballero became the Pan American Champion of the female discus throw competition in the Pan American Games in Toronto, with a shot of 65.39 meters.
In statements to reporters after her victory, Caballero anticipated her wish and disposition to climb to the winners podium at the upcoming World Championship in Beijing, China.
"I feel quite ready. I think I can win a medal in Beijing," assured the Cuban athlete, who also pointed out her teammate and second place in the competition, Yaime Perez, the winner of the silver medal, as her most outstanding rival.
The bronze medal fell in the hands of US athlete Gia Lewis-Smallwood.
