Varadero, Cuba, October 21 (RHC)-- The Varadero beach resort, the largest and most important in Cuba, will receive one and a half million foreign vacationers at its hotel facilities by the end of 2019.
The delegate of the Ministry of Tourism (MINTUR) in the western province of Matanzas, Ibis Fernandez, said that similarly to last year, this positive trend in vacationers arrival will occur at a time when the U.S. government is tightening its economic blockade actions against Cuba, and particularly against its leisure industry.
According to Fernandez, by August, Varadero had already received 1 million foreign vacationers.
Since 2008, Varadero is considered by international experts as the second-best beach in the world, and it receives one million foreign visitors every year.
Fernandez said that for the coming high season vacationers who opt for this destination will find facilities with better products in accommodation and recreation because of the restoration work undertaken in the resort.
The MINTUR official noted that Canada remains in the first place among the issuing countries, while Russia, with sustained growth moved to second place, followed by Germany, France, Italy, Chile, and Argentina.
Fernandez recalled that Varadero will host in 2020, again, the International Tourism Fair (FIT), the main exchange of the so-called industry without chimneys of Cuba.
