Teheran, October 23 (RHC)--Iran is sticking to the nuclear deal while the US is not, assured Iran´s Permanent Representative to the UN Gholamali Khoshroo.
In an interview published in the Iranian capital quoted by Prensa Latina news agency, Khoshroo said that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported eight times that his country remains in compliance with the 2015 accord.
The Iranian diplomat considered that the IAEA is the single referee authorized to judge Iran’s compliance and that the Agency´s Director General, Yukiya Amano, has acknowledged that the country has allowed full access to the places it has asked for.
Khoshroo regretted the Trump administrations attempts to change the content of the accord´s Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, adopted by Teheran and the G5+1 (US, UK, France, Russia, China plus Germany).
The diplomat added that the United States is showing disdain for the work of the IAEA and that it is looking for pretexts to change the pact.
He reiterated that every word and every letter of the accord should be observed, and that otherwise, Iran will not remain a party to that deal, because it is not renegotiable.
Earlier this month Trump refused to certify Iran´s compliance, although his administration has not produced any evidence to assert this position, and he threatened to break the deal if it is not strengthened.
