Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro discloses names of masterminds and perpetrators of assassination attempt

Caracas, August 8 (RHC)--The president of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, presented evidence against participants of the assassination attempt against him last Saturday and disclosed names of the perpetrators and masterminds.

During a radio and TV statement from the Miraflores Palace Tuesday evening, the head of State showed several videos provided by the security forces working on the investigations¡, reports Prensa Latina.   'The videos show that 11 people were hired to carry out criminal operations,' the president said.

The Prosecutor’s office authorized the release of the testimony by retired sergeant Juan Carlos Monasterios, who upon being arrested, accused Venezuelan opposition leaders Julio Borges and Juan Requesens of being the masterminds of the attack.

On the other hand, Maduro accused retired Colonel Oswaldo Valentín García Palomo of being linked to terrorist acts against the Bolivarian Government, and described his actions as betrayal of the homeland and instigation of rebellion.

He also requested the extradition of Osman Alexis Delgado Tabosky, political and financial chief of the assassination attempt and of explosive experts Gregorio José Yaguas Monje and Yilber Alberto Escalona Torrealba.

Maduro announced that people were apprehended thanks to the bravery of residents of the area surrounding Bolivar Avenue who saw when the criminals activated the drones, and warned intelligence authorities.

The president stated that in the coming days, he will continue to disclose more details about who participated, how much money was used, how and where they were trained and about political groups involved.
