Washington, August 13 (RHC)-- In Washington, DC a white supremacist rally outside the White House over the weekend was vastly outnumbered by counter protesters. Only 30 people showed up for the Unite the Right protest, while nearly 30,000 came out for the counter-demonstration.
Sunday’s "Unite the Right" rally came one year after the deadly white supremacist protest in Charlottesville. Groups of counter-protesters streamed into the streets near the White House with one common message: White nationalists are not welcome in the U.S. capital.
Only a handful of white neo-Nazi supporters walked to a fascist rally through the heart of the U.S. capital, cordoned by rows of police officers and outnumbered by tens of thousands of counter-protesters who taunted them.
Protesters, many of whom dressed in all-black and with covered faces, chanted anti-Nazi slogans and waved signs as they marched towards the White House to protest the rally.
The "Unite the Right 2" event organized to coincide with the anniversary of last year's racially charged violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, took place in Lafayette Square, across from the White House and ended early due to rain.
There was an enormous police presence to keep both sides apart and avoid the street clashes that broke out last year in downtown Charlottesville.
