Caracas, August 4 (RHC)-- Following U.S. President Donald Trump's threat of imposing a tougher economic blockade on Venezuela, President Nicolas Maduro countered with decrying all ways of U.S. intervention in this Latin American country.

Maduro said that during the last few months, the U.S. government has already deepened an economic war against Venezuela, which includes illegal sanctions, confiscation of the country's assets abroad, and a ban on the use of the U.S. dollar, affecting imports and free trade.

Maduro says his country has prepared to endure an ongoing U.S. blockade so its negative consequences will be overcome.  Observers note that over the past six years of the Maduro administration, the people of Venezuela have maintained their anti-imperialist stance and resistance.

In turn, opposition leaders urge the U.S. to launch a full-scale blockade against Maduro's government and, failing that, a direct military invasion of the country.
