Karachi, April 26 (RHC)-- At least four people have been killed and dozens injured after a powerful bomb exploded near a government vehicle in Pakistan's southern city of Karachi.

According to officials, the blast occurred outside a mosque in the Delhi Colony area in the southern part of Pakistan’s largest city, Karachi, as worshippers were leaving weekly Friday prayers.

Authorities said the attack targeted a convoy of vehicles, including a government car, which were passing by the mosque.  The dead included three men and a woman with around 30 people injured, five of them critically, said provincial health minister, Sagheer Ahmed.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.  Police also failed to determine who was actually targeted during the assault.  The incident marks the latest in a series of terrorist attacks that have rocked the port city of Karachi recently.

On Thursday, a bomb targeted a prominent Karachi police officer, killing him and three others in the eastern part of Karachi.  The blast left 15 people wounded.

Militants in Pakistan have carried out numerous attacks against security forces as well as civilians.  Karachi, which is home to numerous ethnic groups, has been also hit by terrorist attacks as well as clashes between rival ethnic and political factions for the past two decades.
