Caracas, July 20 (RHC)-- This Monday, July 20th, a radical seven-day quarantine begins throughout Venezuela, according to the "7+7 Scheme" with the aim of breaking the chains of contagion of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19 disease, official sources reported.

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro announced on his Twitter social network account that this Monday "the seven days of radical quarantine will begin throughout the national territory."

"I have full confidence in the conscience of the Venezuelan family to overcome this terrible pandemic," the president said in the tweet.

Thus, this week only the essential sectors of food, health, telecommunications and services will be working.

In a meeting held at the Miraflores Palace, President Maduro asked the Presidential Commission for the Control and Prevention of Covid-19 to perfect the Venezuelan 7+7 method.

"The ideal is seven days of radical quarantine and seven days of ample and safe relaxation to be able to move through this time of the pandemic or as it has been called elsewhere: the new normality," said the Venezuelan president.

"In Venezuela, we must stop, control and defeat this coronavirus disease for the health and life of our people," the president said.
