Ramallah, September 6 (RHC)-- Israeli forces have shot and injured two Palestinians during a search-and-arrest operation in the occupied West Bank before taking them into custody.

According to witnesses, Israeli soldiers opened fire on, injured and then kidnapped the two brothers identified as Ahmad and Mohammad Jadoun, both in their 20s, while they were sleeping at their family home at the Jenin refugee camp on Saturday.

Witnesses said Israeli forces raided several homes at the refugee camp, triggering clashes with angry Palestinian youths.

A video circulated on social media shows the two young men taken out on stretchers and placed in an army ambulance before leaving the camp.

Unconfirmed reports said one was shot in the neck and waist, and the other in the thigh. Their condition was not immediately known.

According to a Palestinian non-governmental organization, the Wadi Hilweh Information Center, Israeli authorities detained 103 Palestinians, including 12 children and nine women, from Jerusalem al-Quds in August.

A UN office says Israeli authorities have demolished or seized 30 Palestinian structures in the West Bank in two weeks.  The report said that during the period, Israeli troops also demolished 51 Palestinian structures in the occupied city.

About 85 people, most of them minors, were displaced as a result of the demolitions, it added.

The Israeli army frequently carries out wide-ranging arrest campaigns across the occupied West Bank under the pretext of searching for “wanted” Palestinians.

More than 7,000 Palestinians are reportedly held in Israeli jails. Hundreds have been incarcerated under the practice of administrative detention, which allows holding Palestinian inmates in Israeli prisons without trial or charge.

Some Palestinian prisoners have even been held in administrative detention for up to eleven years.
