The Peruvian Medical Federation (FMP) begins strike for better working conditions

Lima, January 13 (RHC)-- Peruvian doctors have begun an indefinite strike this Wednesday to demand better working conditions from the government of President Francisco Sagasti.

The Peruvian Medical Federation (FMP) confirmed the beginning of the pressure measure after several rounds of negotiations without results with the Ministry of Health (MINSA).  The president of the FMP, Godofredo Talavera, declared to a local radio station that "we have agreed to continue with the measure of the beginning of the indefinite national strike in view of the fact that we do not have vaccines (against COVID-19).  And there is no date as yet probable of when they will arrive."

Doctos and health professionals affirmed that under these conditions, it is extremely difficult to treat patients, however, they stressed that during the strike they will continue to provide assistance to those infected with COVID-19.

Among the requests of the doctors is the resignation of the Minister of Health, Pilar Mazzetti, due to the lack of dialogue.

To date, in the South American country there are 1,021,058 cases of COVID-19 and 37,873 deaths.
