Buenos Aires, April 3 (RHC)-- The president of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez, announced late Friday night that he has tested positive for coronavirus.  On his Twitter account, the president indicated that he is in isolation and complying with the coronavirus protocols, after a fever and headache during the last day prompted a COVID-19 antigen test, the result of which was positive.

"I wanted to tell you that at the end of today, after presenting a fever of 37.3 and a slight headache, I took an antigen test whose result was positive," wrote President Fernandez on the social network.

After that first test, the head of state performed a PCR to confirm the diagnosis.  He explained that while waiting for this second test he is already isolated and following the indications of his personal physician.

Alberto Fernandez explained that once the diagnosis was confirmed, he communicated with all the people with whom he had meetings in the last 48 hours "to evaluate if they are in close contact so that they can isolate."

The Argentinena president called on the citizens to maintain the care and recommendations indicated by the State agencies to avoid the spread of the coronavirus.  "I ask everyone to protect themselves by following the recommendations in force. It is clear that the pandemic has not passed and we must continue to take care of ourselves."
