Mexico City, April 16 (RHC)-- Mexico's Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon, will make a working visit to Russia from April 24th to the 28th, according to the Mexican Foreign Ministry.

As part of the agenda in that country, a central topic of the dialogue will be the confrontation of the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Mexican Foreign Minister will meet in Moscow with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, who visited Mexico City in February of last year.

Both foreign representatives will seek mechanisms to strengthen relations between their nations, analyze actions to control the health situation and identify priorities for the recovery stage.

Ebrard's visit is part of the agile and open political dialogue that both nations maintain in the spirit of bilateral cooperation. An example of this fraternal relationship was the telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador at the end of January.

Both states seek massive and timely access to vaccines and medical equipment to combat the ailment caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.  Last December, Mexico and Russia commemorated the 130th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations, a bond of friendship and collaboration that seeks greater dynamism day by day.

Ebrard will also hold meetings with Russian authorities and institutions dedicated to the development, production and distribution of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, in addition to visiting the National Research Center of Epidemiology and Microbiology Gamaleya, leader of the pharmacological project.

Sputnik V is one of the vaccines that make up the portfolio of drugs that are ensuring the necessary supply to meet the goals of the National Vaccination Plan.
