Small island states warn climate crisis threatens their future
United Nations, August 10 (RHC)-- Dozens of small island states affirm that the accelerating climate crisis threatens their very existence. Their warning came as the United Nations' Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued its gravest warning yet on the climate crisis.
In a statement, the Alliance of Small Island States said: “The stark fact is that if we keep warming to 1.5C we are still facing half a meter of sea level rise. But if we stop warming from reaching 2C, we can avoid a long term three meters of sea level rise. That is our very future, right there.”
