Bolivian government to take legal action against Almagro for contributing to coup against Evo Morales

La Paz, August 26 (RHC)-- Bolivia's ambassador to the Organization of American States (OAS), Héctor Arce Zaconeta, denounced this Wednesday at the headquarters of the organization Secretary General Luis Almagro, whom he accused of being behind a new intervention into the internal affairs of the country.

Arce said that Almagro's recent statements on Bolivia are nothing more than a new and unjustified outrage, which he described as an act of gross interference in the internal affairs of the South American country.

A document from the OAS General Secretariat insists on questioning the integrity of the data and the certainty about the results of the 2019 presidential elections in Bolivia, which gave the victory to Evo Morales.

Ambassador Arce's denunciation occurred during the extraordinary session of the OAS Permanent Council in which Foreign Minister Rogelio Mayta and the Minister of Justice and Institutional Transparency, Iván Lima, also participated.

Foreign Minister Rogelio Mayta pointed out that Almagro's messages of hate generate division in the OAS and encouraged member countries to consider a new organization.

The communiqué from the Secretariat for the Strengthening of Democracy of the General Secretariat was published on August 9 in response to the results of the study of an international team hired for the expertise of the results of the October 20, 2019 elections.

According to the final report of that team, there was no manipulation of the electoral data by the administration of Evo Morales, as justified at that time by the OAS, which served as the basis for the coup d'état.
