Former United States President Donald Trump collected more than five million dollars since the news of his indictment was reported

Havana, April 3 (RHC) The campaign team of former United States President Donald Trump (2017-2021) reported the collection of more than five million dollars since the news of his indictment was reported.

According to a member of the ex-governor's team, the first four million dollars were received in the first 24 hours after the accusation against the tycoon was made public last Thursday, and more than one million the following day.

More than 25 percent of the initial contribution, the ex-president's collaborators said, came from first-time donors.

Likewise, the members of the campaign of the businessman who seeks to occupy the White House again in 2024, informed Axios that more than 16,000 volunteers signed up on his website in just 24 hours.

Donald Trump is the first former president of the country to be indicted on criminal charges.

Although the exact nature of the accusation is unknown, it is allegedly about a payment made during the 2016 elections to buy the silence of an adult film star known as Stormy Daniels, who claims to have had a brief sexual relationship with the tycoon in 2006.

The indictment is then expected to allege he falsified business records to hide the nature of the refunds made to a former member of his team, who in turn paid the money to Daniels.

Trump's arraignment hearing is set for tomorrow afternoon at Manhattan Court, where law enforcement is taking steps to tighten security against possible protests.

The former ruler is expected to turn himself in at District Attorney Alvin Bragg's office, before being arraigned at the criminal courthouse.

Some of the former president's supporters called demonstrations in New York, including a rally scheduled to take place today at Trump Tower, and a protest planned for tomorrow in Manhattan. (Source: Prensa Latina)
