Buenos Aires, Apr 16 (RHC) Argentina is under strong pressure from the United States and is plunged into a crisis due to the debt contracted by former President Mauricio Macri (2015-2019) with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), journalist Luis Bruschtein assured today.
According to the analyst and deputy editor of “Página 12 newspaper”, the agreement signed in 2018 by the former president, with the IMF, for a loan of more than 45 billion dollars was aimed at winning the 2019 elections, which he finally lost.
On the other hand, the US Donald Trump (2017-2021) intended to guarantee control over Argentina, even if Macri left the Government.
In his article, Bruschtein assures that it is impossible to mention a friendly action of the United States with this country and reminded of the first invasion of the Malvinas Islands by the American frigate Lexington, on December 1831, which led to the British occupation of 1833.
Now there is ‘this burden of debt that forces periodic controls over sovereign decisions which pressure the government to affect subsidies, jobs, salaries, and pensions’, he pointed out.
The United States is mainly responsible for the current crisis of inflation and impoverishment. It is not the only one, because there are also locals to be blamed, such as Macri and his friends, who carried out the outflow of those dollars, he added. (Source: Prensa Latina)
