Madrid, Apr 29 (RHC) Communiqués from the Moncloa Palace and the Spanish Foreign Ministry today confirmed the visit next week of Colombian President Gustavo Petro.

The respective notes announced that Petro and his wife will be received by the King and Queen of Spain, who will host a dinner in his honor on May 3.

On the following day, he will also meet with the President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, at the Moncloa Palace; he will address the Cortes Generales (Parliament) and will receive the Medals of the Congress and the Senate, from the heads of both chambers, Meritxel Batet and Ander Gil, respectively.

He will also visit Madrid City Hall, where Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida will present him with the Golden Key to the City of Madrid, inaugurate the García Márquez Cultural Center, and receive the Medal of the University of Salamanca.

The Consul General of Colombia in Spain, Rodrigo Pinzón, announced, on the other hand, that Petro will attend the VI Fair of Services for entrepreneurs of his country based in Spain, on the first day of his visit on May 2.

With an officially recognized community of more than 400,000 people, which exceeds 900,000 if Colombians born in this nation are taken into account, the event consolidates the idea of facilitating the entrepreneurship of the natives of the coffee-growing country in Spain, Pinzón told Prensa Latina.

The fair, promoted by ProColombia, has a wide international tour that has already touched cities such as Miami, New York, Panama, Mexico, Santiago de Chile, Quito, Montreal, New Jersey, Orlando, and Madrid, among others.

Also, the Spanish Foreign Ministry announced that Petro will be decorated along with several ministers, which involves the awarding of the Grand Cross of the Order of Isabella the Catholic to the Colombian president, his wife, Veronica del Socorro Alcocer, and the head of the diplomacy in Bogota, Alvaro Leyva.

In addition, the heads of Commerce, Industry, Tourism; Education; Transport; Mines, and Energy, and the Colombian ambassador to Spain, Eduardo Avila, will be awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit. (Source: PL)
