Ramallah, May 17 (RHC)-- At least three Palestinians have sustained injuries when Israeli forces raided the northern West Bank city of Jenin and fired live rounds at local residents. The Palestinian Ministry of Health said one of the Palestinian victims was shot in the abdomen while the other two were struck in the extremities, the official Palestinian news agency WAFA reported. They were transported to a hospital in the city, located 42 kilometers (26miles) north of Nablus, to receive medical treatment.
Earlier in the day, a Palestinian youth was shot and injured in the thigh during an army raid on Aqbat Jabr refugee camp in Ariha. He was taken to a local hospital.
Over the past months, Israel has ramped up attacks on Palestinian towns and cities throughout the occupied territories. As a result of these attacks, dozens of Palestinians have lost their lives and many others have been arrested.
Most of the raids have focused on the West Bank cities of Nablus and Jenin, where Israeli forces have been trying to stifle a growing Palestinian resistance against occupation.
At least 123 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces so far this year, according to Palestinian figures.
