Mexico City, May 22 (RHC)-- Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador says he considered it a source of pride that Peru's de-facto government declared him persona non-grata for criticizing the coup regime.

At the end of his morning press conference at the National Palace, the president referred to the issue in the midst of an international question.  He avoided confirming if there is a risk of a rupture with Peru after his criticism of the coup president Dina Boluarte and the rumors that he is going to be declared persona non-grata, but people should know why, he said.

López Obrador repeated the history of the coup d'état against Pedro Castillo last December and again demanded the de-facto government to release him, while denouncing the collusion of the designated president with the U.S. government that supports her through the direct intervention of Washington's ambassador.

The clashes with the coup leader Dina Boluarte increased after López Obrador's declarations that he would not hand over the pro tempore presidency of the Pacific Alliance to Peru because a spurious government is in power there and today he reiterated that it is repressive and has caused more than 60 deaths due to the violence unleashed.

He severely criticized the government of Washington for having sent U.S. soldiers to the Andean country and called the attention of Joe Biden's administration to withdraw them if the version of its ambassador that the illegitimate congress of Peru authorized the sending of 700 soldiers is true.

"I cannot remain silent in the face of the crime committed in Peru and the abuse against a legitimately elected president without cause to defenestrate and imprison him, to favor economic interests that take advantage of Peru's natural resources" at the expense of the suffering of the Peruvians.  (Source: Prensa Latina)
