Mexico City, July 31 (RHC)-- The President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, affirmed that his government will send a representative to the peace meeting to be held in Saudi Arabia for the conflict between Russia and Ukraine only if both countries attend.
During his conference, he stated that Mexico has always been in favor of reaching peace and that a negotiating table be established to achieve it. "We do not want the Russia-Ukraine war to continue. It is very irrational, people suffer a lot, there are losses of human lives and the only thing that is enhanced is the war industry, the use of weapons. We do not want war conflicts in the world, we want peace," said AMLO.
The President informed that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) already has this order, as it is a task that he expects to be completed soon in order to put an end to this episode. He also recalled that at the time, Mexico promoted a proposal for negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, which was composed of Pope Francis, the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, and the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Mod.
"It is the commission that we are proposing to intervene with Russia and Ukraine, with the governments of those countries and to establish a dialogue, a table, to achieve peace," said López Obrador.
Next August 5 and 6, talks will be held in Saudi Arabia to reach a peaceful agreement between Moscow and Kiev, where nations such as India and Brazil will be present. However, the Russian government has not been invited to this event.
